The duplicate or similar rule message appears after you save the rule you’re creating. Fincent will check if there are duplicate or similar rules already created based on the similar/duplicate rule criteria set.
Duplicate Rule:
If fincent finds a duplicate rule then you will see the following screen:
This screen shows an existing rule that has the exact same conditions (highlighted in yellow) as the ones you have selected in your rule. In this case, you have the option to:
Edit your rule and make the necessary changes or
Cancel (‘x’ on the top right) your rule since it already exists.
Similar Rule:
If Fincent finds a similar rule to the rule you’ve created, then you will see the following screen
This screen shows an existing rule that has the similar conditions (highlighted in yellow) as the ones you have selected in your rule. In this case, you have the option to:
Edit your rule and make the necessary changes or
Proceed with your rule or
Cancel (‘x’ on the top right) your rule since a similar one exists
Note: Your bookkeeper sets up Rules for your account when they start the bookkeeping process and that is probably why these rules already exist. To access existing Rules, you can click on ‘Rules’ on your Timeline.
